Vertical Core Shooter Manufacturer

Galaxy Machine India manufactures vertical core shooters for foundries producing metal castings for automotive, industrial and engineering applications. A core shooter is a machine used in foundries to manufacture sand cores, the internal shapes placed inside a mould to create hollow sections and complex internal geometries in a metal casting. Cores are made by blowing a mixture of sand and chemical binder into a core box under high pressure, where the binder then hardens the sand into a solid shape.

In a vertical core shooter, the core box is mounted and clamped vertically, and the sand-binder mixture is shot downward from a hopper. This differs from a horizontal core shooter, where the core box sits sideways.

The vertical design offers three benefits:

  • Space efficiencyIt takes up less floor space, which is helpful when shop-floor area is limited
  • Gravity-assisted fillingThe sand flows down naturally, helping it settle and pack evenly, especially in deep or narrow core cavities
  • Easier line integrationIt fits into tight production setups without needing big layout changes

Vertical core shooters are often used with the cold box process. In this method, a catalyst gas hardens the sand and binder mixture. This is different from box or shell processes, which rely on heat to cure the sand.
